Manager, Bulk Parcel Operations

Wonderful opportunity for an experienced Manager, Bulk Parcel Operations to be based in Kuala Lumpur.

You will be joining a well-established multinational chemical company, they are looking to hire Manager, Bulk Parcel Operations to join their dynamic team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Your new role
  • Monitor and review performance of ship owners in order to develop KPIs with the objective of having continuous improvement of the operations
  • Ensuring that ship’s movement during her transit and also her operational activities at each port is constantly monitored to have the best turnaround of the ship according to the agreed Charter Party/freighting contract.
  • Work closely with all relevant stakeholders covering shipowners, brokers, shippers, receivers, terminals, related companyentities in ensure seamless bulk parcel shipping operations and where necessary lead the coordination of issue resolution where required.
  • Conduct presentations in shipping impact workshops or similar trainings on post/fixtures, laytime calculation and other related shipping topics to personnel that are directly or indirectly involve in bulk shipping business in order to enhance the shipping knowledge in Company’s community
  • Ensure that the computation of laytime and potential demurrage is appropriately done so as to dictate whether there is/potentially is demurrage incurred for each shipment arranged and outcome are to be distributed to all concerned parties for appropriate action.
  • Formulate and implement guidelines, process and procedures, Service Level Agreements, Cost charging and monitoring mechanism for Bulk Parcel Operations services in the region and other regions.
  • Ensure that the processing of all bulk parcel freight invoices, shipowner claims are processed in a timely manner and where necessary actively drive resolutions on this topic
  • Support the team on any potential company’s investment by providing logistics concepts for bulk parcel movements and establish readiness
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to all Distribution Safety Codes of bulk cargoes
  • Support with the compilation, monitoring and evaluation of terminal operational set up for bulk operation, terminal efficiency information and statistics and other related information to enable continuous improvements in efficiency

What you'll need to succeed
  • A degree/professional qualification (e.g. ICS/CILT), BS or BA degree in business management, supply chain management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in handling Bulk Terminal Operations especially on operations covering parcel tanker loading and discharging operations and general bulk terminal operations.
  • Possesses excellent communication management skills (written and spoken), analytically inclined and able to work with minimum supervision, proactive, result-oriented and a good team player
  • Experience in Supply Chain processes as well as ability to report and work with remote managers and teams.
